Amanda Jeanne Swain

Amanda Jeanne Swain is Associate Director of the UC Irvine Humanities Commons.  She is responsible for graduate professionalization activities that serve the School of Humanities, as well as for research development mentoring with individual graduate students.  Amanda co-leads Humanities Out There Public Fellows, an internship program for humanities PhD students. She is also the lead staff person on an NEH Next Generation PhD planning grant for 2016-2017.  Amanda holds a PhD in History and a Master’s in International Studies from the University of Washington.  She has over ten years’ experience in cultural non-profit management and fifteen years’ experience in program management, including grants management, exhibit development, and university-community engagement.
