Whitney DeVos

Whitney DeVos studies 20th and 21st century experimental poetry and poetics of the Americas at UC Santa Cruz. Her dissertation, From Logopoeia to (un)documentary, provides a genealogy of post-war documentary poetics in North, Central, and South America. In summer 2014, she served as a graduate intern at UCHRI, where a major project consisted of identifying UC Humanities PhDs working in non- or para-academic positions. In 2015, she served on UCSC’s Professional Development and Professionalization Subcommittee, where she helped craft short and long term goals for the larger Task Force on Graduate Growth. In 2016 she joined the Career Center as Lead Graduate Peer Adviser. In 2016-17, she will work as a GSR for the Institute for Humanities Research at UCSC; she is also a participating member of the “Next Generation Humanities PhD” planning grant awarded to UCSC by the National Endowment for the Humanities.
