Culture Change: the Example of ePortfolios

Arizona State University
September 15, 2:30—4:00 PM

ASU’s session seeks to interrogate and explore innovation within the broader context of the university. Using the example of the development of ASU’s eportfolio tool for Connected Academics students, we want to open up a discussion surrounding the pedagogical and administrative nuances of developing and implementing eportfolios.

  • How does the eportfolio system work and what does it offer graduate administrators, faculty, and, most importantly, students?
  • How does the mentor-mentee relationship evolve in this environment?
  • What are the possibilities and problems with piloting and scaling the tool?

We are particularly interested in how and whether we can make the eportfolio a model for graduate-level innovation; we will continue this line of inquiry as we prepare for our MLA 2017 session, which engages a diverse group of graduate deans on the topic of Connected Academics.
